Valeo Sistemas Electrónicos successfully carried out the official expansion ceremony of its operations plant located in Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas. This company is of French origin and is dedicated to the production of various systems for the automotive sector.
This is an ambitious project that covers 251,764 square feet of expansion for various areas of the company; In addition, with this growth, 624 job opportunities were generated, which in total allows Valeo to have a workforce of about 2,000 employees.
When Valeo started operations in this municipality in Tamaulipas in 1982, it had an infrastructure of 30,000 square feet. Recently, with the expansion that was carried out, it will give space to house new products and new technology in the plant that will be installed mainly in the area of cameras. , for vision systems that have become a necessity for the safety of autonomous vehicles and cars.
Since 1998, the company is part of the Valeo Group Corporate; 100% dedicated to the manufacture of automotive products, mainly driver assistance and assistance products.
When it began operations, there were about 500 employees dedicated to the production of harnesses, cables, switches, switches for the control of interior lights, control to lower glass, to control the windshield wipers; This, without having so much technology.
In Rio Bravo, the main products are sensors and cameras, these are the ones that are manufactured in greater quantity.
At present, Valeo Sistemas Electrónicos develops products with high technology such as ultrasonic sensors to assist in the parking of the automatic parking of the vehicle, they also manufacture radars that allow the detection of the so-called “blind spot”, another product is the camera, both front and rear to help the user in the vehicle for comfort and safety.

Meanwhile, Sergio Barroso Soto, human resources manager at Valeo Sistemas Electrónicos in Rio Bravo said that the expansion in this operating plant is the consolidation of the success of all the people who work in this company.

The French company has 186 global operating plants distributed in 33 countries. Of these, 15 factories are located in Mexico and, in Tamaulipas, it has its production complex in Rio Bravo.
In addition to the operations plant located in Rio Bravo, Valeo has a presence in Mexico in the states of Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Toluca and Ciudad Juárez; however, the plant located in Rio Bravo is the largest, being considered a “Mega Plant” that has 2,000 employees. It is the operating plant that has grown the most in the group - integrated by 186 sites; Rio Bravo being the fastest growing site of Valeo in all plants worldwide.
THE VALEO TRUST IN TAMAULIPAS
The corporate has decided to maintain the investment in Rio Bravo and have an accelerated growth in the last three years since each year the company has grown between 30 and 40 percent.
“In the last three years we have quadrupled sales and volume; Currently, we assemble more than 85 million final products a year, our technology is stable, as is the workforce in this region, ”said Ramírez.
He added that this company will continue to grow, employing and using direct labor: "Engineers are needed and this is a good place to work to grow, we want to work with young graduates, since they have a good development opportunity here."
Sergio Barroso mentioned that Tamaulipas is an attractive state with several advantages such as labor, the availability of this resource and the proximity to the border.
VALEO AND THE ROBOTICS
At its Rio Bravo plant, Valeo has a robotic density of more than 3,000 robots per 10,000 employees.
In a comparison, this company is at a medium level between China and Germany, the latter, a high-cost country where more automation is required, but since its products have evolved to a much more complicated technology, with greater accuracy and precision, it they have had to adapt the processes to be more automatic, which implies the use of more robots, cobots and automatic systems.
