TPI Composites, will begin operations in September 2018

Directives presented the company’s plans before businessmen
TPI Composites held a work meeting where they fulfilled a presentation before businessmen from Matamoros and in which they announced details about this company, including its activity, as well as the medium and long term plans the company manufacturing wind shovels has observed, for its settlement as well as for its growth, same that will benefit the economy of the region.
WHAT IS THE PROJECT ABOUT?
The project states the opening in a long term of 6 production lines, but on their first stage they will start with two production lines, generating 1,800 jobs. The company, of American origin will be manufacturing sheets in two production lines for the wind turbine V136 that will be intended for the Central American and South markets; as well as for some regions in Mexico – especially in Tamaulipas – and the blades will be produced in Matamoros.
The new factory will have a territorial extension of 50 thousand square meters, from which 22 hectares of land will be intended for the construction of the plant that will be located 15 miles from the port of Brownsville, TX.
WHY MATAMOROS?
“Matamoros was chosen because of its
strategic geographic area; it has railroad, it is near the United States, its
roads are also strategical geographically talking and it has a port, we believe
that the location of Las Ventanas Industrial Parks will save us time, as well
as money in blades transportation to reaching the border crossing, this is a
project that will have an approximate investment of 30 million dollars,”
assured Herman A. Degwitz, general manager of TPI Composites in Matamoros, Tam.
PLANS AND PROJECTS
The plant that will be located in this
border city is projected to start operations on September 2018 and it is
already anticipated that it will have a considerable expansion during 2019.
Later, a second facility is planned, and
it includes the construction of a second plant; this for 2020. Another expansion is being considered for
2021, both plants will produce wind turbines and wind shovels for Latin America
being Vestas company its main customer.
TPI will produce shovels of six lines for
Vestas at the new manufacturing center of TPI in Matamoros, Mexico.
TPI Composites Inc. is the only independent manufacturer of composed wind shovels for the wind power energy with a mark global manufacture.
