The Two Laredos Region strengthens its role as a strategic hub in the bilateral relationship between U.S.-Mexico

With the purpose of strengthening binational cooperation on key issues such as migration, health, and foreign trade, the 6th Binational Dialogue Meeting of the Laredos Region was held in Laredo, Texas.

The event brought together experts, authorities, and representatives from the private sector on both sides of the border, solidifying the region of the Two Laredos as a strategic hub in the bilateral relationship between Mexico and the United States.

On behalf of the President of COMCE Northeast Chapter Laredo, A.A. Eduardo A. Garza Robles, Brenda Rentería, Director, attended the meeting, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to the region's development.

During the opening, Ambassador Juan Carlos Mendoza Sánchez, Consul General of Mexico in Laredo, highlighted the importance of the Binational Dialogue as an essential mechanism for cross-border development.

On her part, Honorable Erika Zielke, Consul General of the U.S. in Nuevo Laredo, emphasized the region's strategic role and the progress made in border security, including the reduction of immigration detentions thanks to bilateral cooperation.

Meanwhile, Victor Treviño, Mayor of Laredo, Texas, spoke about advancements in strategic projects such as the expansion of the Colombia Bridge and the proposal for a passenger train connecting both cities. In the customs field, Chief Luis Lozano and Juan Chávez from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) discussed the challenges and achievements in facilitating trade, highlighting the stable flow of 8,000 trucks daily at the World Trade Bridge and the implementation of new technologies to streamline inspections.

From COMCE Northeast Chapter Laredo, Rentería reiterated the commitment to strengthen binational collaboration, recognizing the accomplishments made and the challenges that still lie ahead. The participation of key public and private sector players is crucial for the continued success of the Two Laredos as an economic engine and a model of cross-border cooperation.

The 6th Binational Dialogue Meeting of the Laredos Region reaffirmed the region's strategic role in the relationship between Mexico and the United States, consolidating efforts in trade, migration, and public health.
