Ternium Recognizes the Port of Brownsville for Operational Excellence; Celebrates 30 Years of Commercial Partnership

Ternium, a leading steel producer, has recognized the Port of Brownsville for its long-standing commercial relationshipand invaluable support in facilitating the movement of five million tons of mineral throughout 2024.

Through the Port of Brownsville, Ternium receives, stores, and ships processed materials from its Pesquería plant in Mexico, one of the most advanced industrial complexes in the world.

Reaffirming its commitment to the Port of Brownsville and the Rio Grande Valley, Ternium is investing over $200 million in a new maritime terminal operation at the port. This project is part of a multi-billion-dollar expansion of its state-of-the-art steel industrial center in Pesquería. The terminal operation is expected to create high-paying jobs in the region and increase the port’s steel and metal throughput to over 9 million tons.

As a token of appreciation for Ternium's contributions to the port, Esteban Guerra, Chairman of the Brownsville Navigation District, presented a commemorative plaque to Ricardo Prosperi, President of Global Trade at Ternium, and César Jiménez, President of Ternium Mexico.

"The Port of Brownsville proudly recognizes Ternium for its long-standing commercial relationship with the port, spanning more than 30 years," said Esteban Guerra, Chairman of the Brownsville Navigation District.

During the event, Prosperi also presented an award to Chairman Guerra and William Dietrich, Director and CEO of the port, acknowledging their significant contributions to the global steel market through operational and logistical excellence.

Ternium is a leading steel producer operating in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, and the United States, manufacturing and processing a wide range of products for the construction, automotive, energy, and home appliance industries.

The Port of Brownsville serves as the primary multimodal transportation hub for the Rio Grande Valley and northern Mexico. It contributes over $1 billion to the regional economy and more than $12 billion to the Texas economy, supporting the creation of over 66,000 jobs across the state.
