South Texas College (STC) has officially begun construction on its new Continuing Education and Assessment Center with a ceremonial groundbreaking event. The state of the art, 20,000 square foot facility will be located just west of the college’s Pecan campus in McAllen.

This new space will allow STC to increase its classroom capacity by 32%, enabling the institution to offer a broader range of courses to the community. These will include programs in real estate, GED preparation, floral design, and baking, among many others.

The center will also feature advanced computer labs aimed at enhancing digital literacy and workforce readiness, directly addressing the evolving needs of both students and employers in the region.

The development of this new center reflects South Texas College’s commitment to growing alongside the region. It underscores the college’s mission to provide accessible, relevant programs that support both educational and professional advancement in South Texas.

STC President, Ricardo Solís, led the ceremony, expressing his gratitude to community leaders, elected officials, and academic staff who attended the event. He emphasized that this project represents a significant step forward in the college's dedication to lifelong learning and regional development.
