Rio Grande City’s economic development, education, and workforce partners are investing approximately $173,000 to strengthen career training at Rio Grande City Grulla ISD, according to an announcement from Rio Grande City EDC.
Presented on August 12, the investment combines $86,000 from Workforce Solutions Lower Rio Grande Valley through the High Demand Job Training Grant with an $87,000 contribution from the Rio Grande City Economic Development Corporation.
Supporting Technical and Professional Skills
The funding will support programs in automotive and collision repair, culinary arts, carpentry, welding, dental assisting, and accounting and financial services. It is intended to provide students with equipment, training, and certifications that prepare them for employment.
Educators will also receive professional development support to help keep instruction aligned with industry standards and workforce needs.
For local employers, the partnership aims to strengthen access to skilled workers. For students, its goal is to create opportunities to pursue careers and build their futures in Rio Grande City.
The EDC credited the Texas Workforce Commission, Workforce Solutions Lower Rio Grande Valley, and Rio Grande City Grulla ISD as partners in the initiative, linking workforce preparation with the community’s broader economic development efforts.
