"RioPlex," the brand representing the binational region formed by the Rio Grande Valley, Texas, and northern Tamaulipas, Mexico, may soon add marketing services to its team, as well as appoint an Economic Development Coordinator, to strengthen its international promotional strategy.
“We want the world to know what RioPlex is. When promoting investment opportunities in Reynosa, Matamoros, McAllen, or Pharr, it should be highlighted that these cities are part of the RioPlex region. This will enhance our global recognition,” said Mario Reyna, president of the Hidalgo County Prosperity Task Force.
The primary goal of "RioPlex" is to showcase the region's competitive advantages internationally, aiming to attract investments, generate jobs, and promote community well-being, agreed Reyna and Joaquín Spamer, president of Grupo CIL.
Among the region's key advantages is its robust infrastructure, which includes 13 international bridges (eight of which are commercial), seven airports, three seaports, and a SpacePort operated by SpaceX.
“Any project, no matter how large, can be developed in our region, and the best example is SpaceX, which is already successfully launching rockets from StarBase, aiming to send the first humans to Mars. This will be a historic achievement for RioPlex,” Spamer added.
RioPlex encompasses four Texas counties (Starr, Hidalgo, Cameron, and Willacy) with the cities of Roma, Rio Grande, Mission, McAllen, Edinburg, Pharr, Donna, Weslaco, Mercedes, Harlingen, San Benito, Brownsville, Raymondville, and South Padre Island. On the Mexican side, in Tamaulipas, the cities of Mier, Miguel Alemán, Camargo, Gustavo Díaz Ordaz, Reynosa, Río Bravo, Valle Hermoso, and Matamoros are included.
Together, these 23 cities are home to over 3 million people, with a labor force boasting more than six decades of experience in manufacturing processes.
