Forza Steel USA opened a USD 85 million plant at the Port of Brownsville, boosting nearshoring, logistics, and U.S. supply chain strength.

Forza Steel USA Launches Operations at the Port of Brownsville

The Port of Brownsville continues to consolidate its position as a strategic hub for nearshoring and industrial development with the opening of Forza Steel USA’s new facility. Commissioners John Reed, John Wood, and Ernesto Gutierrez of the Brownsville Navigation District toured the USD 85 million, 650,000-square-foot plant, underscoring the significance of this investment for the regional economy.

Strengthening Cross-Border Manufacturing

The plant, developed by Mexican company Forza Steel, is already operational with 65 employees and will scale production using Pittsburgh steel to manufacture pipes and tubes for the automotive, construction, and oil and gas industries. The company’s choice to establish operations at the Port of Brownsville reflects the port’s growing role as a preferred site for manufacturers seeking cross-border connectivity, multimodal logistics, and access to both U.S. and Mexican markets.

Job Creation and Supply Chain Impact

At full capacity, Forza Steel USA is expected to generate more than 150 direct jobs in manufacturing and support over 450 indirect jobs, reinforcing the port’s contribution to workforce development and economic growth in South Texas. Beyond job creation, the facility will enhance the U.S. supply chain by increasing domestic availability of steel components critical to key industries.

Port of Brownsville: A Nearshoring Advantage

The arrival of Forza Steel USA adds to the port’s expanding industrial base, driven by nearshoring dynamics and the demand for reliable logistics infrastructure. With multimodal connections, strategic trade corridors, and proximity to Mexico, the Port of Brownsville continues to attract high-impact investments that strengthen North American competitiveness.
