Laredo, Texas, is advancing a strategy to strengthen its position as a logistics platform and expand its capabilities in distribution and manufacturing, said Felipe Romero, Director of Communications and Marketing at Port Laredo.
The executive highlighted that the integration of infrastructure, industry, and economic development is essential to expanding opportunities across the region. In this regard, he explained that industrial growth has a direct impact on the community, under a vision of shared development.
Port Laredo is currently working to position the city beyond its traditional role as a border crossing. The strategy includes strengthening its role as a distribution center and leveraging this platform to attract manufacturing-related projects. “We are very focused on promoting Laredo as more than a crossing. It can also be your hub for a distribution center and, from there, move into nearshoring and establish your manufacturing footprint,” he said during the 33rd edition of the Pathways for Trade Symposium.
Port Laredo’s participation in the event provided an opportunity to showcase the capabilities that make up the city’s logistics and commercial ecosystem, while also fostering connections with companies and industry specialists from different regions.
As part of its evolution, Laredo is also working to strengthen its infrastructure. Romero highlighted the expansion of international bridges and the renovation of the airport as key elements that will help increase the city’s capacity and create new opportunities for businesses.
