Plastic molds manufacturing for the automotive industry

NPI Mold México, internationally known as Jin Long, has a plastic molds factory in Mexico that seeks backup and support the automotive industry with customized solutions for big corporates and assemblers.

Jonathan Chavez, commercial director of NPI Mold Mexico or Jin Long Mexico, underlined the processes made at the commercial plant of Zapopan Industrial Norte.

“Here, we are mainly focused on engineering changes at automotive level, our main customers are Continental, who just sent us bidding for all corrections and engineering changes, as well as IMI, Interplex, and Hella.  Our main approach is engineering changes and there we are capable of performing repairs, maintenances, and the manufacturing of some inserts,” he explained.

He announced that the plant has a five tons crane, a temperature control room for accurate machining, machining centers, thread trimmer, and erosion.

“Besides this, we have welding, spot welding, argon welding, rectifiers, reafilers and everything needed to make this validations and works,” he added.

Among its strengths, underlined the manufacturing of specialized molds in all kind of pieces required by automotive industry; besides, they also manufacture daily used products.

“In engineering changes, we enter everything, as any type of product or manufactures a mold; manufacturing of molds as such, our experience as a group is the automotive issue, interiors, functional pieces, all this kind of thing.  However, we have some products – commodities as we call them – where we manufacture trays, cutlery, and covers.  The gross part is automotive, in Mexico our development has been gradual,” he explained.

Jonathan Chavez is very close to customers, highlighted that the main competitive advantage of Jin Long is the advisory of expert engineers.

“Those seeking to develop a mold have a person with whom they can develop everything directly, either we go physically or through a videoconference, everything that has to do with tooling development we do it with our people in our language, in our schedule.  We are in charge of making that linkage with technical people and we are in total contact with China, the language issues we dominate it perfectly and the requirement is understood as they need it and we translate it into their language, which is the main advantage,” he said.

Jin Long has a great Prestidge in China with two plants, Chavez talked about the support they have on each one of them with highly accurate machinery.

“It is important to notice that we have two plants in China, one in Ningbo focused on more functional pieces or of larger size, we have the capability of manufacturing molds of 45 tons to up to 2,000 tons.  The other plant we have is in the Suzhou area focused on accuracy and there we have machines of 45 to 550 tons, all those are electric machines to have better control, all machining centers are German or Swiss,” he ended.
