The Pharr Global Business Hub, a partnership between the Pharr Economic Development Corporation (Pharr EDC) and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), has officially opened its doors in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas.
Located in Pharr, this center is designed to support the establishment, growth, and capacity-building of businesses from around the world.
“This hub is a response to the needs expressed by the business sector over the years. Here, companies will receive personalized guidance and programs aimed at fostering economic prosperity and community benefits. Every activity will be carefully designed to ensure shared growth in the region,” said Víctor Perez, Executive Director of Pharr EDC.
The hub will also offer training programs ranging from basic business startup skills to advanced technologies, innovation, and specialized manufacturing techniques, with the goal of strengthening human talent in the region.
“This center will serve as a business incubator, with a primary focus on the Latin American industry, particularly in Mexico. Therefore, programs will be available in both Spanish and English. We already have some open registrations and will offer scholarships to make these resources more accessible, contributing to regional development,” said Linda Ufland Romo, Director of Entrepreneurship, Commercialization, and Development at UTRGV, which will have a permanent presence at the hub through its workforce and economic development divisions.
She added that one of the first programs to be launched will focus on business acceleration, specifically targeting entrepreneurial projects in Mexico, recognizing the significance of the binational region as more than just a commercial alliance.
The inauguration event also featured business leaders, representatives from economic development organizations, and officials from northeastern Mexico, including the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce for Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, and Zacatecas.
