The Pharr Economic Development Corporation joined local leaders, project partners, and community members to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new IMAS Fresh facility, reinforcing the city’s expanding role in food production and logistics in South Texas.

Held at 600 W. Anaya Road, the ceremony marked the official start of construction on a project that is expected to generate new employment opportunities while strengthening commercial activity tied to food handling, distribution, and supply chain operations.

The investment reflects continued private-sector confidence in Pharr as a strategic location for food-related industries serving regional and cross-border markets.

Expanding Pharr’s Food and Trade Ecosystem

City officials highlighted that the IMAS Fresh project aligns with broader efforts to position Pharr as a key hub for food logistics, supported by its workforce base, industrial infrastructure, and proximity to major trade corridors.

Facilities like this contribute to a more integrated ecosystem where processing, storage, and distribution operations can operate efficiently within the same regional network.

By supporting projects that connect production and logistics, Pharr EDC continues to focus on industries that generate long-term economic value and reinforce the city’s role in international trade flows.

Investment that Supports Jobs and Industrial Growth

Beyond its operational function, the new facility represents another step in Pharr’s steady industrial expansion. Developments in the food sector often create a ripple effect, driving demand for transportation services, cold-chain logistics, packaging, and related support industries.

Construction is set to move forward immediately, with completion projected for the second quarter of 2026. As the project advances, Pharr EDC will continue working alongside investors and local partners to attract and support initiatives that strengthen the city’s economic base and create sustainable opportunities for the community.
