The aviation industry is considered as a new sector in Mexico with an exceptional growth of more than 14% annual average. There are currently 368 installed companies in the country that employ more than 55,000 people in 19 of the 32 states of Mexico. In 2018, 8.613 million dollars were exported, making us the seventh exporting country for the US aerospace industry.

Luis Lizcano, director of the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry (Femia), said that the sector is one of the few that reflects growth in Mexico, occupies the 12th place worldwide. And he estimated that for this year we will enter the top 10. “Some global companies with operations in Mexico are OEM’s, T1, suppliers integrated into the supply chain and technological development”.

The products and services offered by companies in this sector in Mexico are components for propulsion systems, aerostructures, aircraft interiors, landing system components, electrical and electronic systems, precision machining, plastic parts, surface treatments, etc. "We cover the full range of products that the industry requires," Lizcano added.

He also said that most companies have US capital, however, there is a third that are 100% Mexican companies and are growing rapidly over the years.

Currently, the Mexican aerospace industry exports 80.7% to the US, followed by Canada with 4.7%, France with 3.5%, Germany with 3.2% and others with 7.9%. By 2021, exports will reach $ 12 billion and jobs will increase to 110,000.

For his part, Felipe Sandoval, president of MSc & GMBA, commented that the aerospace industry has maintained a constant growth of 14%, because it is determined by specific factors that are not subject to the country's situation, “it really is a world industry that depends on global economic growth commissions and that is the engine of the industry.

Finally, Sandoval, revealed that the current number of aircraft fleet is 24,400 and revealed that by 2038 this figure will triple. It is there where companies dedicated to this sector in Mexico find an area of opportunity.
