With an investment of 42 million pesos, Libus, a company dedicated to the design and manufacture of personal protective equipment (PPE), inaugurated its fourth plant in the Milenium Industrial Park in Santa Catarina, Nuevo León.

The new facility, covering an area of 2,500 square meters, aims to generate 80 new direct jobs over the next five years. This plant will address the growing demand for safety and hygiene equipment, which is estimated to increase by 30% this year, for maquiladoras that employ nearly 3 million people directly, according to the INDEX Council.

The total production capacity of the plant will be 280,000 PPE items per month: 200,000 safety glasses and 40,000 each of hearing protectors and helmets.

"Estamos muy entusiasmados de llegar a Nuevo León y acercar nuestras mejores prácticas en innovación de productos de alta calidad para ayudar a que las personas desempeñen un trabajo seguro. Estamos ansiosos de sumar a la competitividad de México y tener mayor capacidad de atender a nuestros clientes en pro de un futuro sostenible," said Mariano Zurlo, General Director of Libus in Mexico.

This new plant, in its initial phase, features three production lines dedicated to the manufacture of fully certified helmets, safety glasses, and hearing protectors, all meeting the highest Mexican and international standards and regulations.

In the medium term, the plant is expected to incorporate new production lines according to the portfolio, which includes more than 128 proprietary products for head protection, distributed across seven segmented lines: cranial, ocular, facial, auditory, respiratory, welding protection, gas detection, and self-contained equipment. Additionally, it offers a full range of services for hygiene and safety professionals and leaders, including training, software, consumable dispatch, and telemedicine, among others.

Libus began its expansion strategy in 2004 and currently operates three plants throughout Latin America to serve the global market.
