Laredo Economic Development Corporation took part in Expo Manufactura 2025 in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, with the goal of forging strategic alliances to enhance economic development between the United States and Mexico in the border region.
David A. Stedman, President and CEO of Laredo Economic Development Corporation, highlighted Laredo's strength as the number one port in the United States, handling an annual trade flow of $340 billion in goods and services.
He explained that this success is driven by Laredo’s strategic location at the heart of North America, providing direct access via rail and highways to Canada in the north, as well as Mexico and South America in the south.
This positioning benefits both countries through manufacturing initiatives focused on competitiveness and nearshoring.
“We want to explore how we can address the challenges we are witnessing today and seize the opportunities presented by the new Trump administration and President Claudia Sheinbaum’s government in Mexico,” he stated.
Laredo EDC’s presence at Expo Manufactura 2025 offers a key opportunity not only to connect with manufacturers, suppliers, and logistics companies but also to explore the future of the industry and strategies to diversify the economy.
By fostering integration, this initiative aims to build value chains that will, in turn, create greater opportunities for workforce development and overall industrial growth on both sides of the border.
