In August of this 2022, the Mexican automotive industry had a production increase of 31.36%, assembling a total of 316,815 units ; what became one of the best months of the year for the sector.

According to the monthly report of the Administrative Registry of the Light Vehicle Automotive Industry of the National Institute of Geography and Statistics (Inegi), in August 2021, 241,178 cars were manufactured.

It should be noted that, from January to August of this year, 2,238,153 vehicles have been built, which results in a positive variation of 7% , when compared to the same period in 2021, which reached only 2,075,150 units.

The automotive brands that had positive production figures in the ninth month of 2022 were: Audi, BMW Group, Ford Motor, General Motors, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis, Toyota, Volkswagen and JAC . 

EXPORTS

In August , exports of light vehicles in Mexico also rebounded, with an increase of 16.93%, by sending 248,704 units abroad; while in the same month but from 2021 it reached 212,687.

If the January-August period is taken into account, exports grew 2.43% at an annual rate, with 1,863,469 automobiles ; since in the nine months of last year 1,819,345 vehicles were sent.

The original equipment manufacturers that contributed to the rise in Mexican exports in this category are: Audi, Ford Motor, General Motors, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and Volkswagen .
