ICATEQ Promotes Logistics and International Trade Training for Young People

With the goal of strengthening the development of specialized talent, ICATEQ announced a training program for 100 high school and university students that will include a hands-on experience along the Mexico-U.S. border, giving participants a closer look at how logistics and international trade operate.
The program will begin with an initial group of 100 students and will include an intensive four-day workshop. During the program, participants will gain firsthand knowledge of supply chain operations, import and export processes, customs procedures, and the movement of goods through Port Laredo. The initiative will be carried out in coordination with authorities from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, and Laredo, Texas, as well as educational institutions from both countries.
Hands-On Experience Will Introduce Students to International Trade Operations
“The goal is for young people to experience the entire logistics process, from the movement of goods and customs procedures to the operation of the supply chain, so they can return to their high schools and universities with a practical understanding of how international trade works,” explained Pedro Bailón Baeza, Head of ICATEQ’s Government and Social Engagement Department.
In addition to this program, ICATEQ provides specialized training for sectors such as the automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, industrial maintenance, welding, automation, plastics injection molding, and language industries. These programs are offered through in-person and online courses tailored to the needs of companies. The institution also works on training and certification projects in states including Nuevo León, Sonora, Sinaloa, and now the Laredo border region.
ICATEQ Expands Training to Meet Industry Needs
ICATEQ’s participation as an exhibitor at the 2026 Port Laredo Global Trade Summit highlighted the importance of strengthening talent development as a strategic factor in responding to the growth of trade between Mexico and the United States and the evolving needs of industry.
