FCA and ENGIE EPS join forces to create an electric mobility company

FCA Italy SpA of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and ENGIE EPS signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at creating a company specialized in electric mobility.

The automotive manufacturer and the technology company in energy storage and e-mobility agreed that the project will depend on the financial resources and the industrial footprint of FCA , as well as the technological knowledge and the intellectual property portfolio of ENGIE EPS . 

The two companies join forces to move towards the new era of more sustainable mobility, offering innovative solutions and services to make access to electric mobility easier .

The newly created company will offer a suite of products and solutions for electric vehicle customers , such as residential, commercial and public charging infrastructures, as well as green energy packages, allowing customers to charge at home and at any charging point. public.

With the above, a new technological player in electric mobility will emerge , with access to a portfolio of patents and industrial secrets, a solid team of electrical engineers, systems specialists and a consolidated automotive industrial footprint.

The new organization will benefit from the contribution of both parties in terms of intellectual property, human resources and financial assets; will focus on innovative and disruptive solutions for the European market.

Mike Manley, CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, commented that the firm has its origin in a 3-year cooperation between the two companies, which allowed the implementation of disruptive projects, such as the introduction of the exclusive FCA easyWallbox , a plug charging system -Easy-to-use and play, the recently launched V2G pilot project, and innovative customer-oriented power packs.

"The joint venture will allow for an even greater commitment from both parties to expand the scope of existing cooperation, and develop even more innovative products and services," he said.

Carlalberto Guglielminotti, general manager of ENGIE EPS, assured that electrification represents an inevitable trend prepared to interrupt urban mobility and a paradigm shift in the world's energy systems. 

“What is being done is a testament to the joint commitment that seeks to accelerate this change by leading such disruption towards a more sustainable future. This Joint Venture is the opportunity to consolidate this legacy and at the same time shape the path towards greener mobility ”, he stated.

The two parties expect the signing of the full set of agreements by the end of the year and the incorporation of the joint venture in the first quarter of 2021.
