Edinburg Residents Can Apply for Heavy Equipment Operator Training Assistance
July 14, 2026
The Edinburg Economic Development Corporation has partnered with the Rio Grande Valley Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America and Workforce Solutions Cameron to support a new Heavy Equipment Operator Training Program.
The initiative is designed to help address the region’s growing demand for qualified workers capable of operating heavy machinery used in construction, infrastructure, and related industrial projects.
Through the program, eligible Edinburg residents can pursue professional training and earn a heavy equipment operator certification. Financial assistance for tuition may beavailable through the Edinburg EDC, helping reduce one of the main barriers for residents interested in entering the construction workforce.
The training represents an opportunity for individuals seeking to begin a new career, strengthen their technical skills, or improve their qualifications for jobs in the construction and infrastructure sectors.
Heavy equipment operators play an essential role in projects involving road construction, commercial development, utilities, site preparation, and public infrastructure. As construction activity continues across the Rio Grande Valley, employers increasingly need workers with the technical preparation and safety knowledge required to operate specialized machinery.
Space in the program is limited, and interested applicants are encouraged to complete the Project CRANE registration form as soon as possible.
For additional information about tuition assistance, applicants may contact Joey Treviño at (956)522-0394 or joey@rgvagc.org.
