The Edinburg Economic Development Corporation celebrated the opening of its new office with an open house and ribbon cutting on October 21, marking a new chapter for the organization’s work supporting business development and investment.

Located at 617W. University Drive, the office gives EEDC a permanent base after years of operating from different locations. The celebration brought guests together outside the building for the ceremonial ribbon cutting, while displays highlighted projects across Edinburg, including workforce facilities, transportation infrastructure and community amenities.

In an interview with Pro Texas Industry, Raudel Garza, Executive Director of the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation, explained that the move provides both stability and room to expand.

“Forthe last four years, and even before that, we’ve kind of been floating around in different locations,” Garza said. “This is a permanent home for us.”

The location also reflects a long standing partnership. According to Garza, EEDC previously owned the property and donated it to the Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council so the council could develop a transit center. He said federal funding, grants and a local match supported that development.

Garza explained that the council built out the office space and EEDC paid for the interior design, bringing the new location together through their combined efforts.

The office accommodates the organization’s current team of approximately nine to ten employees while allowing space for future growth. It also provides meeting areas for Lunch and Learn sessions and other activities EEDC offers.

For businesses, the opening creates a dedicated place to connect with the organization and discuss opportunities in Edinburg. For manufacturers and industrial service providers considering South Texas, that local point of contact can be an important starting place for exploring the community and seeking business development support.

The additional meeting space also gives EEDC more capacity to bring people together, supporting the relationships and exchange of information that help businesses establish themselves and grow.

Garza emphasized that the office is already operating and welcoming visitors.

His invitation was straightforward: businesses interested in Edinburg can visit the new office, discuss their plans and connect with the EEDC team for assistance.
