Harlingen, Texas, has secured a new boost to its industrial ecosystem with the arrival of ConsultingPoint, Inc. (CPI), a manufacturer specializing in components for the global industrial motor industry. The company confirmed a $2.1 million investment to relocate and expand its operations, a move that will generate new jobs and reinforce the city’s position as a strategic hub in South Texas.

Expansion Strengthens Harlingen’s Manufacturing Base

CPI, founded in 2004, serves Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) across sectors such as renewable energy, mining, transportation, and advanced propulsion systems. The company’s relocation responds to the need for a larger, more specialized space that accommodates its growth plans.

The new site, located on East Harrison Avenue near Harlingen Industrial Park, offers 60,000 square feet of space, including 54,804 square feet dedicated to manufacturing. Renovations will add administrative offices and a training center designed to enhance employee development and streamline onboarding processes.

Job Creation and Workforce Development

The relocation is expected to create 67 new jobs over the next three to five years while preserving 80 existing positions that will transition alongside the company. Beyond expanding production capacity, the inclusion of a dedicated training facility underscores CPI’s commitment to workforce development and long-term employee retention in the region.

Support from Harlingen EDC

The Harlingen Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) worked closely with CPI throughout the relocation process, ensuring access to the infrastructure and support necessary for the move. According to HEDC leadership, the decision reflects the city’s ability to offer competitive operational costs, site readiness, and strong collaboration between business and government.

The project is seen as a milestone for Harlingen, reinforcing its growing reputation as an attractive location for advanced manufacturing companies seeking strategic positioning near the U.S.–Mexico border.

Harlingen’s Role in Regional Competitiveness

Harlingen continues to attract investment by leveraging its industrial parks, skilled workforce, and logistical connectivity across road, rail, air, and port infrastructure. The arrival of CPI not only adds manufacturing capacity but also strengthens the city’s role in supporting regional economic diversification and binational supply chains.

With ConsultingPoint, Inc. officially joining Harlingen’s business community, the city is poised to benefit from new employment opportunities, industrial momentum, and the integration of advanced manufacturing expertise that will contribute to long-term regional growth.
