COMCE Noreste Hosts Import-Export Laredo Workshop to Boost Cross-Border Logistics Expertise

With theobjective of bringing foreign trade professionals closer to the operations ofthe primary commercial corridor between Mexico and the United States, COMCENoreste held the Import-Export Laredo Practical Workshop. This hands-onexperience focused on exploring the infrastructure, customs processes, andlogistics that sustain binational trade.
Theinitiative brought together specialists and company representatives toexperience firsthand the processes involved in moving goods between bothcountries, as well as the challenges and opportunities facing the supply chainamid deeper North American commercial integration.
During thefirst day, participants toured strategic border hubs to observe the dailyoperations of authorities and agencies involved in the flow of goods. Theagenda covered customs clearance processes, logistics infrastructure, andregulatory aspects impacting supply chain competitiveness, providing a directview into the inner workings of one of the region's most critical tradecorridors.
Nuevo Laredoand Colombia: Strategic Hubs of the Logistics Corridor
The tourbegan at World Trade Bridge III and the Nuevo Laredo Customs Office,managed by Mexico’s National Customs Agency (ANAM). Lieutenant Colonel EricOmar Salinas, head of the customs office, welcomed the delegation and delivereda presentation on the facility's operations. Participants then toured thefacilities to learn about inspection, clearance, and cargo control processes atthis strategic U.S.-Mexico trade point.
Followingthis, the delegation traveled to Colombia, Nuevo León, to visit the Corporationfor the Development of the Nuevo León Border Zone (CODEFRONT). During thesession, specialists detailed the region's logistics infrastructure, ongoingdevelopment projects, and the strategic role that the Colombia Port plays instrengthening international trade and northern border competitiveness.
The visitallowed participants to explore the opportunities offered by this Nuevo Leónlogistics hub to complement operations along the Mexico-U.S. corridor,strengthening responsiveness to new investments driven by nearshoring.
BinationalOperations Continue in Laredo, Texas
The secondday of the Import-Export Practical Workshop will continue in Laredo, Texas,featuring site visits to key international trade facilities. The agendaincludes a tour of the Laredo International Airport and its Foreign TradeZone (FTZ), as well as a joint inspection presentation by U.S. Customs andBorder Protection (CBP) and ANAM.
Participantswill also get an up-close look at World Trade Bridge operations through a tourof the yards and a container inspection demonstration with CBP officers and K9units. Additionally, the workshop will cover trade facilitation programs suchas CTPAT, FAST, and ACE—essential tools focused on enhancing securityand streamlining the border flow of goods.
Through thisprogram, COMCE Noreste aims to connect businesses with the comprehensiveoperations of the Laredo-Nuevo Laredo-Colombia corridor, providing practicalinsights to navigate current foreign trade challenges and leverage regionalintegration opportunities.
