The Binational Council for Economic Promotion of Reynosa (Cobifer) is focused on developing sustainable and renewable energy supply lines to serve companies and industries in Reynosa.

To address energy challenges, ensure a stable supply, reduce operational costs, attract new investments, and expand growth opportunities for established companies, Cobifer's private sector members expressed a commitment to coordinate with authorities. This was discussed during an open panel at the October monthly meeting, chaired by Cobifer President Luis Cantú.

The goal is to secure the necessary funding to drive an integrated renewable energy supply model with expanded distribution lines, considering the energy potential of Tamaulipas, particularly the northern region.

“Tamaulipas is the second-largest energy producer in the country, and we need to develop this transmission network so all companies can benefit,” said Carlos Angulo, Senior Leasing Manager at Fibra Macquarie, during the meeting.

Martín Anzaldúa, director of Grupo Rio San Juan, added, “Reynosa’s main challenge is to maintain the same level of growth and development seen in recent years. While there is no risk of stagnation as seen in other cities, the private sector must be more involved and fulfill its role.”

Both developers underscored the shared interest among companies in accessing more clean and renewable energy, emphasizing the critical role of energy supply in attracting investments.

During the panel, Cobifer members also shared their views on topics like nearshoring, investment outlooks, Reynosa’s competitive advantages, and the need to promote the city as part of a binational region, given its border with the Rio Grande Valley, Texas.
